Hello, Moms and Dads of Westbridge Kids!!

This Sunday (June 7th) we had lots of fun in preschool and kid's church. Here's a sneak peak of what we did and some additional questions you can use to continue the conversations:
_____________________________________________________________________
PreSchool:

Continuing on the BRAVE series, we talked about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace from Daniel chapter 3. We talked about how we can be brave because God is always with us. As you may have noticed, we made pictures of the furnace with all 4 in the fire.

Here are a couple of discussion questions for you to ask your children:

1) What is something really hot?
2)Who were the men in the fire?
3)What is something you can do when you are scared?

Our memory verse is: Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and brave because God is with you."

Grade School:

This week was a special week in Grade school. Due to some technical difficulties (i.e. curriculum got accidentally packed into the trailer last week) we decided to have the first annual "school's out" party in grade school. We had some prayer time, some worship time, and some game time. All in all, we had a great time, and next week, we will be back to the Deal With It curriculum.

Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions for future curriculum and lessons. Also, Summer is a great time to start volunteering in Kid's Ministry, so give me a call or email me and let me know if you are interested!

Sunday, May 17th kid's update

Hello Moms and Dads (and Friends) of Westbridge Kids!!

Here's an update on last week's lessons :
_____________________________________________________________________
PRESCHOOL:

In Preschool, we started a new series called, "I Can Be Brave." We learned about "Joseph in a Hole" from Genesis chapter 37. Our lesson was on bravery, and our Memory verse for the series is from Joshua 1:9,

"Be strong and brave because God is with you."

Here are a couple of discussion questions you can use to further the lesson:

-Have you ever been afraid?
-What helps you when you are afraid?

_____________________________________________________________________
GRADE SCHOOL

In grade school this past Sunday we also started a new series called DEAL WITH IT!. We talked about fear and how God helps us overcome the fears in our lives.

Our lesson was on Joshua taking over for Moses upon his death. As a young man, he had to be afraid of leading his people, right???During our small group time, the gradeschoolers shared what they are afraid of and prayed as a group asking for God's help us overcome the fears we deal with. What a powerful time!

Our Power Verse of the week is:

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. . . for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

Remember parents, if your kids memorize the verse, they get a prize. . . a little incentive:)

Have a great week, and we will see you on Sunday!

Westbridge Kids: Sunday, May 3rd

Hello Parents of Westbridge Kids!

Thanks for checking out our new kids blog. We are working to keep you up to date with what your kids are learning at Westbridge. Here is a quick summary of this past Sunday:

Preschool:

In WB preschool this week, we are on lesson 4 in the "I can be a friend" series. This week, learned two main lessons:

1) I can pray for my friends
2)God can help my friends when I pray for them

Our Bible story was about Peter in jail (Acts Chapter 12). After our video, the children made "prayer chains" to signify Peter's chains and to remind us to pray for our friends. If you have a moment, remind your children to pray for their friends they named on their chain.

Our Memory Verse for this series is from Proverbs 17:17,

"A friend loves at all times."

Your children are learning actions to go with the verse. Ask them to say the verse with you, and you might learn the actions too!

Grade School:

Sunday, May 3rd, we watched the Friends and Heros video entitled "No Turning Back" and finished up our series. The Biblical Lessons for the last two weeks were Elijah and the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 17-19), and the first Pentecost (Acts Chapter 2). Here are a couple of follow-up discussion questions from this last lesson to ask you kids:

• How do you think the believers felt when they heard the
windstorm?

• How do you think the believers felt when they realized they
were speaking in new languages?

• Are there some things about God that are a mystery to you?
Why shouldn’t we be scared, even when we don’t completely
understand him?

Our Power Verse this week is:

"I will pour out my Spirit upon all people." Acts 2:17

If your child memorizes the verse for next week, they get to pick something out from the prize table:)

As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you have. We love serving your kids and are thankful that God has brought each and every one of them into our live.
