PRESCHOOL
This week in preschool (4s &5s), we finished up our series "Show & Tell". We talked about the 6th day of creation, when God made the animals and people, then rested on the 7th day.
To start a conversation about what your kids learned this week, ask your preschoolers the following questions:
1) What did God make on the 6th day of creation? (animals & Adam/Eve)
2) What did God do on the 7th day of creation? (He rested)
3) What did God think about His "Incredible" creation? (Incredible was the word of the day- it was very good)
Our Remember Verse is Genesis 1:31 "God looked at everything He made and it was very good."

GRADE SCHOOL (K-5th grade)
New Years. . . an exciting time to make changes, big or small in our lives. This week in grade school, we talked about New Year's resolutions and Jesus sermon on the mount (the Beatitudes & Jesus' illustration of being salt & light). We tasted salt & talked about how it gives flavor, preserves food (what is good), and changes what is around it (like melting ice). We also saw how just 1 candle can provide so much light in the darkness & it lights a path . . . we also saw what happens when you cover (smother) the flame. We don't want to hide our light!
Some of your kids may have come home with their verse and a New Year's Resolution, maybe to be a light to their friends, or to work on their attitudes, etc. Ask your kids if they made a resolution. . .
Here are a couple questions to ask your kiddos:
1) Why does Jesus ask us to be like salt?
2) Why does Jesus want us to be like candles?
3) What are some ways we can be salt & light to our friends (or neighbors, teachers, family, etc.)?
Our Verse of the Week: Matthew 5:16 "Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
